Museum Assistant – (HKSAR; 2 Positions; Sai Wan Ho)

Job requirements:

  • A degree holder in any disciplines
  • Level 5 or above in English Language in DSE OR Grade C or above in HKAL
  • Level 4 or above in Chinese Language in DSE OR Grade D or above in HKAL
  • OR CRE – Use of English – Level 2 and Chinese – Level 1
  • Possess a few experience is an advantage
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, fluency in Mandarin is an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Chinese Word-processing
  • Immediately Available is highly preferred

Responsibilities:

Position 1

  • To act as the stocktaking coordinator in the full-scale stocktaking exercise of film materials collections
  • To retrieve and prepare stocktaking records sheets for stocktaking
  • To perform stocktaking of film materials collections items at on-site and off-site stores, perform on-site visual inspection, locate and check the physical existence and conditions of items, and record any irregularities found. Personnel will be required to work in cold stores, off-site stores in different locations and other venues as well as relocating collections among the locations according to museum an archival standards
  • To perform follow up work of any unfound/unlisted items and items with irregularities
  • To update records and prepare reports related to stocktaking exercise; and
  • To perform any other store management, collections relocation and preservation duties as assigned.

Position 2

  • To act as the stocktaking coordinator in the full-scale stocktaking exercise of film-related collections
  • To prepare stocktaking records sheets phase by phase in categories for stocktaking
  • To supervise and work in pair to perform stocktaking of film-related collections items at on-site and off-site stores, perform on-site visual inspection, locate and check the physical existence of items by checking the barcode, accession number, call number, quantity and location, record any irregularities
  • To perform follow up work of any unfound/unlisted items and items with error information on a monthly basis
  • To perform and finalize the stocktaking report when one specific category of the collection is stocktaken; and
  • To help data input and digitization of collection items, conduct guided tour and perform other related duties as assigned
